The Beefsteak arms

Brasenose has a long history of student clubs and societies. One such club, The Beefsteak Club was a dining club founded in about 1873. They designed their own rather charming club arms, which loosely based on the College arms,  features  tankards and beefsteaks. The College archives holds a wide variety of information about such clubs, including the more well known ones such as the Phoenix Society and Pater Society.

More information on the College arms can be found on the website.

  1. bucket trucks Nice read. I’ve had some trouble subscribing to your RSS feed, though. I had a similar problem on my blog about bucket trucks and it had to do with the blog platform. Anyway, keep up the good work!
